Hi everyone! If you haven't already, please post some questions on my Q and A post which you can find it here. I hope you liked the last chapter, and please let me know if you wanna be tagged! Ok, let's get on with the new chapter!
Chapter Five: Fire
I looked at the words, let them burn in my vision. I smelled the smoke, choking on it. I was scared.
"Where's Alvin?!" I shouted over the cries of other people.
"Maybe-" Mom began
"WHERE'S ALVIN?!" I shouted.
"We don't know. He's missing as far as we know. He was at home alone while his parents were going shopping in Atlantis. When they came back, the house was ablaze, and Alvin was missing." She whispered, looking at the house. Her eyes had a glimmer to them, a spark. She moved her hands and the fire moved from the building to her open palm. She snuffed them out by closing her hand and looked at the ashes of what once was his home.
I ran towards the burned home, rummaging through any rubble, anything I could see. I felt my hand slowly bleed, looking for anything that would possibly resemble Alvin. Something cold touched my hand. I looked down to see a small battered locket. It must have been fireproof. I ran my finger over it, trying to find a latch. It stayed closed, and I pocketed it. I walked back over to my mom, who was sitting on a tree stump.
"Ready to go?" she asked with a sad smile. I nodded. As the light enveloped me, I took one last look at the house. No one saw the tear streaking through the ash on my face.
----------------------------
School was canceled the next week, and the search for Alvin hadn't gotten anywhere. They were no closer to finding him than I was to opening the locket. I spent my days locked up in my room, where no one could talk to me. I had tried to hail Bian a couple of times, but she hadn't picked up.
Finally, someone called me.
"Hi," said Bian. Her eyes were puffy and red, and she was looking at her feet. "sorry I've been ignoring all of your hails. I just don't know what to do with myself. I feel like it's my fault."
"It's not your fault. It's not like you could've known, it seemed like a normal day." I said softly.
"I know. But he said something to me at the end of the school day." her eyes were traced with fear. My eyes widened.
"What did he say?" I asked eagerly.
"He just hugged me and said 'Never let them find the key.' " she said. "Any ideas?"
"Only one."
-----------------
Bian had stopped by Glasside in the morning, and I told her everything that had happened the night Alvin's house burned down, the locket, and how her message could only mean one thing. We tried everything we could to unlock the locket. Until something popped into my head from the night where everything burned. A fire. An Insurgency.
"A burning revolution. A Thistle Insurgency" I whispered. And with a soft click, it popped open.

Hope you liked it! I know that there is a rebellion in the original KOTLC books, but I thought that this would be interesting to have another rebellion, but just so you know, this rebellion is very different from the Neverseen and the Black Swan. I would once again recommend checking out my Q and A and you can ask some questions! I am really excited about writing this new chapter! I loved writing it, so I hope you enjoyed reading it! Please give me any constructive criticism you have, and let me know if you wanna be added or removed to my tag list! Okie Dokie, stay tuned to find out what happens next, and I hope you enjoyed it!
